Originally from Hamilton, Marissa Alexander is an emerging ceramic artist currently working out of Toronto. She graduated from McMaster University with a BA in Sociology in 2009 and received an Advanced Diploma in Craft and Design (Ceramics) from Sheridan College in 2014. She is currently an Artist-in-Residence at Harbourfront Centre in Toronto.

Working intuitively, Marissa uses clay to engage with space in a way which provokes her to reflect on what is physically familiar to her, using everyday observations as inspiration.  When she is in the studio working with tactile clay, she is able to intimately experience objects and ideas.  Material and process are central to her ceramics practice and she aims to make things that engage herself and other people.
